What to Wear: Beach Wedding
If you are a guest at a wedding, choosing an outfit can be a challenge. From deciphering the invitation (beach chic, cocktail fabulous) to finding something that is cute but doesn’t upstage the bride. All week long, we will be tackling the question of “what to wear to a wedding?” focusing on different settings, from modern city soirees to rustic vineyard affairs. We are kicking things off with beach wedding attire.
Beach weddings can be one of the hardest to dress for – they range from super casual to uber chic and then you have the heat, wind and humidity to contend with. Our two rules for dressing when it comes to a beach wedding are:
1. Go Bright
2. Keep it Light
Since beach weddings have a fun vibe, dark dresses in navy, brown or black just won’t do. Look for a bright hue, like the emerald tone of this One by Contrarian dress. Since it is likely to be breezy at the beach, a light fabric will not only float effortlessly, but it will also keep you cool if it is hot and humid.
Now, to accessorize. We love a good stiletto, but in the sand that isn’t realistic. A light pair of strappy thong sandals like these from DV Dolce Vita are dainty, but also practical. If you must have height, a pair of wedges will keep you from sinking into the sand. This fun pair of chandelier earrings from Miguel Asos will pop against loose waves if you wear your hair down. To finish the look, pull through the beachy vibe with elements like wicker (in the Tory Burch clutch) and bamboo (in these gold bangles).
